HBO’s much anticipated airing of the biopic “Bessie” stars grammy award winning singer/actress Queen Latifah as the sassy songstress. The soundtrack, to be relased on CD June 2, includes some of Bessie’s original songs newly recorded by Latifah. The work of BASSic Black Entertainment CEO, Adam Blackstone, is also featured on the soundtrack. Adam and the BASSic Black team collaborated with Latifah to create beautiful music to honor the late songstress.
The album alsoBessie Smith’s original “Gimme A Pigfoot and A Bottle Of Beer” recording, featuring newly recorded vocals, ad-libs and raucous banter by Queen Latifah, set to enhanced instrumentation remixed and produced by Adam Blackstone and Queen Latifah.
