The 2016 Soul Train Awards

The 2016 Soul Train Awards was nothing short of spectacular! With tributes to soul-singer Brandy Norwood and producer/songwriter Teddy Riley, viewers were taken on a trip down musical memory lane!

Adam Blackstone, CEO of BASSic Black Entertainment, was on hand as Musical Director for this show with his all-star BBE band in tow! Adam and the band supported all the performances for the night including Eric Benet, Dru Hill, India.Arie, and host Erykah Badu. With their clean background vocals and precise musicality, Adam and the BBE band have created an unmistakable sound that artists and viewers can identify at the first key stroke!

BET Presents “Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration”

As we reach the end of the “Obama Era”, BET decided to send of the First Family with a musical tribute! BASSic Black Entertainment CEO Adam Blackstone was entrusted to execute this extravaganza as Musical Director and full BBE band!

 

The Obama Presidency has been marked by eight years of phenomenal HOPE, GRACE and CHANGE. BET and Centric are thanking America’s first Black president for his and First Lady Michelle Obama’s leadership with a farewell concert so joyous, so soulful, it earned the name Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration. Regina Hall and Terrence J host performances by Bell Biv DeVoe, Common, De La Soul, Janelle Monae, Jill Scott, Usher, Leslie Odom, Jr., The Roots, Usher, and Yolanda Adams.  Heartfelt tributes are also delivered by Angela Bassett, Bradley Cooper, Jesse Williams and Samuel L. Jackson.

Alicia Keys Surprise Concert in Times Square

Alicia Keys took the streets of her Concrete Jungle hometown for a surprise performance in the middle of Times Square!

The “In Common” songstress just announced the release of her new album “Here” on November 4, 2016. The first album in four years since her last entitled “Girl On Fire” released in 2012. She surprised her fans with a concert in the middle of the popular tourist area which was filmed for BET set to air Nov 3, 9pm. Jay-Z and Nas were also on hand to surprise unsuspecting fans to perform hits including “Empire State of Mind” and Nas’ verse on “One Love”.

Adam Blackstone, CEO of BASSic Black Entertainment, was Musical Director for the event with a full BBE band!

Justin Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience World Tour” Documentary

For nearly two years, Justin Timberlake and The Tennessee Kids toured the WORLD with “The 20/20 Experience World Tour”! BASSic Black Entertainment CEO, Adam Blackstone, had the pleasure of being Musical Director for this tour which grossed nearly $232 Million in ticket sales alone! The last show of this epic tour, which took place at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, was documented and is set to release on Netflix October 12, 2016!!

Netflix recently acquired rights to the concert documentary, which will also air at the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday. Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme  collaborated with the “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” singer to direct the concert film. Demme’s credits include Neil Young’s 2006’s documentary Heart of Gold and the 2015 film Ricki and the Flash. The concert film, which was performed and shot in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will show the final performance of Timberlake’s 134-city world tour, as he performs with his 25-member band The Tennessee Kids.
